4,154 Posts #4 My bros 84 F150 4x4 has a 300 with the clifford 4 barrel, dual header, meaty cam, and some other mods Thing runs like a raped ape Definately go 4 barrel, that poor engine was always way under carbed I bet if ya drive it like normal, your mileage wont even changeThat 350 will probably make about 300hp as it is You can get the 250 close to 300hp fairly easy The key is a good valve job, lumps in the intake ports, a 4 bbl intake and 450 or 500 cfm carb, headers and a decent cam with about 210* 2* durationIf the 250 has flat top pistons, greatIf you can't find a shop to do the work, Classic Inlines offers cylinder head rebuilds, 2V modifications, and portnpolish work at very reasonable rates For example, the labor to rebuild a log head runs around $, plus parts This includes the 2V modification, port work, all machine work, and final assembly
